Ah, cellulite. It’s one of the banes of our existence—along with pimples and body hair. Cellulite doesn’t seem to discriminate either; fat or skinny, young or old, it can hit you hard.

Even supermodels deal with cellulite; many of them rubbing huge handfuls of coffee grounds onto their hail damage to attempt a “quick runway fix.”

But is there anything that can help with cellulite permanently? You’re often inflicted because of genetics—and exercise and diet may help, but won’t kick it out the door for good.

Skinny Tone by Mission Product wants to help. Cleverly named, Skinny Tone is a firming body cream that claims to tone, tighten and moisturize your problem areas.

But can a topical cream containing vitamins, antioxidants and botanicals really get down deep enough into the skin’s epidermis and smooth out cellulite?

Let’s look at the ingredients…

The Skinny Tone Formula

The jewel in Skinny Tone’s crown is an ingredient called Liporeductyl , which Mission Product claims is “clinically proven to fight the appearance of cellulite.”

Here’s a quick rundown of ingredients:

Liporeductyl– scientifically proven to reduce the size of adipose cells (that look raised under the skin like cottage cheese.) Unfortunately Mission Product does not supply clinical evidence on their site.
Caffeine–in my opinion this is the most effective ingredient in the bunch. Caffeine reduces swelling around fat cells, smoothing out problem skin. Unfortunately results are temporary.
Butcher’s Broom Extract– an herb that works as an anti-inflammatory.
TEA-Hydroiodide– thought to break down fat.
L-Carnitine–takes fat and releases them to be burned as energy rather than stored.
Goji Berry, Acai Berry, and Pomegranate- antioxidants that heal cellular damage which prevents aging.
Vitamins A, B6 and C–vitamins with antioxidant properties that heal damaged skin cells and detoxify the body.

Okay—let’s look at these ingredients objectively. The caffeine may prove effective (although applying warm coffee grounds directly to the skin works for me.)

Liporeductyl may do what it says, but with no clinical evidence to back it, I’m leery.

And the other ingredients—well, L-Carnitine may help with your weight loss goals if taken internally, but we doubt you’ll see much success with it in a topical agent. The same goes with vitamins and antioxidants.

Conclusion on Skinny Tone

On the official site Skinny Tone is $14.99, and there’s no money-back guarantee, so I’d definitely avoid that route of purchasing.

Other retailers online sell this product for only $6.99, which is a bit more like it.

Work out, eat well, use a top-rated weight loss product to help with your goals, and embrace your cellulite the best you can.

(And coffee grounds really are a quick fix for a night out or trip to the pool.

Good luck!
